Obituary

William (Bill) Charles Torrington passed away June 11, 2018 in Fairfield, Iowa, surrounded by family.

He was the son of the late Frank and Sylvia Torrington; brother of John (Sandra Maddever), Robert (Susan Bain), Gail, the late Frances (Martin Goodkey), and Lisa (John Horvatek); father of Michael (Weihui Wang), Elizabeth (Nicolas Suna), Mary (Marc Stokes), and Daniel (Lane Robinson); former husband of Katherine Shortal Torrington; grandfather of Audriana and Alexander; and uncle and great uncle of many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Bill dedicated his life to practicing and sharing Transcendental Meditation, creating peace in the world, and making art. He loved unfailingly, gave generously, and found beauty and joy wherever he looked. Poet, painter, writer, singer, Bill used art to reflect the world as he saw it: a place of endless possibility. His curated works, including his magnum opus, “A Peace Story,” can be found on his art website, BillsArtBox.com, which will remain a memorial to his art.

His ashes will be interred at Glen Oaks Cemetery in Oakville, Ontario.

Donations to continue Bill’s artistic legacy may be made at gofundme.com/bill-torrington-memorial.
