Roy W. Tonnessen

Roy Werner Tonnessen, age 69, of Fairfield Iowa passed away Tuesday July 6.  Born in the beautiful country of Norway, Roy came to Fairfield to earn his MBA from MIU, where he met his future wife, Ann. They recently celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary in May.

Roy was inquisitive, joyous, a spiritual seeker, generous, and a great friend to many.  Roy enjoyed researching genealogy for family & his friends with Norwegian ancestry, was a voracious reader on many subjects, has been a teacher of Transcendental Meditation, enjoyed riding his recumbent bicycle, and for 8 years had a weekly program on KRUU radio "The Blues Oasis"  featuring all types of blues music. Roy was an advocate for renewable energy affectionately nicknamed "The Solar Missionary." He and Ann co-owned The Travel Designer in Fairfield and shared many wonderful adventures including their annual Caribbean cruises and visiting his homeland of Norway.

Preceded in death were his parents: Judith and Thorleif Tonnessen.

Roy is survived by his wife Ann in Fairfield, sister Rigmor Eide in Norway, brother Jan-Thore Tonnessen in Germany, several nieces and nephews, extended family in Norway and the US, and cherished friends.
