Leo "Red" James Scotton

October 5, 1925 — February 23, 2021

Leo “Red” James Scotton age 95 of Fairfield, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at his home.

A celebration of life graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 24, 2021, with Military Honors at Pittsburgh Cemetery and Pastor Danny Cary officiating.

Following the graveside service there will be a memorial luncheon.

Memorials may be made to your local pet shelter.

Red was born October 5, 1925, in Brock, MO to Robert and Vuda (Doss) Scotton.  He married Nellie Pool in 1950 and later divorced. Later he met his life long partner, Lillian “Louise” Carlson in 1972.  She passed away October 2, 2006.

Red served in the Army from 1950-1952 during the Korean War.  From September 1963 to December 24, 1985, he worked at Farmall in Rock Island.  After retirement Red spent a lot of his time scrap metaling.  Some of his other interests were watching westerns, stock car racing and rodeos, camping and vacationing in Branson, MO and Silver Dollar City. Red loved spending time with his family, grandchildren and his cat Missy.

Red will be missed by his children, Gail Rush, Rosa LaRue, Russell (Rhonda) Scotton, Mitchell (Kaylene) Scotton, JW (Joyce) Hostetter, Diane Metz, Barb Hatton, Cindy (Randy) Nichols, Jackie (Dale) Kershaw and Chrissy (Calvin) Tague; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and his siblings, Bev Walker, Bob Scotton, Dorothy Palmer and Mildred Young.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Vuda; 2 daughters, Rita Woolum and Dee Moore; his siblings, Pauline, Wilma, Dewayne, Cecil, Floyd and Lily and 4 infant girls; one infant boy; and his lifelong partner, Louise Carlson.
