Justin "Jai" Edward Malloy

August 11, 1987 — June 30, 2019

In the early afternoon of June 30th Justin Edward Malloy, 31 passed away suddenly at his home in Sacramento California. Justin is the beloved son of Mayor Ed Malloy and Vicki Malloy. He was born in Fairfield on August 11th 1987 and attended the Maharishi School through 9th grade and finished his high school education though home study. He attended Whittier College in Whittier California for three semesters and later continued his education at Cabrillo College in Santa Cruz, CA where he studied agriculture and viticulture.

Nicknamed Jai, Justin was a charismatic, fun loving man who had a passion for nature. He attracted friends everywhere he went and created strong bonds through his generous and accepting spirit. He was beloved by his sister Kelly who was his lifelong best friend. He was devoted to his family and admired by all of his many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Justin was an avid snowboarder, hiker and a great athlete who enjoyed many sports. He was an artist at an early age specializing in pen and ink drawings. He made diet, health and conditioning central to his life, working out five days a week. He loved any outdoor activity, comedy clubs and dinner with friends and family. His greatest happiness came from bringing people together to laugh and celebrate friendships. His leadership skills were on display in everything he engaged in. Justin traveled to Japan in 2002 as part of a cultural exchange between Fairfield and the Japanese state of Yamanashi that developed a life long appreciation of Asian Culture.

Justin was a partner and brand development manager of GCI Green Coast Industries in Sacramento. His entrepreneurial skills and natural sales and management abilities were a strong part of the development of the company.

He is survived by his parents Ed & Vicki Malloy, sister Kelly Malloy, grandmother Gloria Malloy of Huntington NY, uncle and godfather Ken Malloy of Fairfield, uncle Russell and Mily Malloy of Longmont CO, uncle Terry Keefe of Huntington NY, aunt Jessica Malloy of Fairfield, aunts Sharon Trieste and David Gates of Napa CA, Beverly and Rob Guida of Huntington NY, June and Bob Curiano of Ridgefield CT, Yvonne and Tyronne Dux of Bethpage NY, and uncle Peter and Robin Reccasina (Vicki’s brother) of Coral Springs FL. Justin was one of 22 cousins within the family who adored him. His loving godmother is Ellen Muehlman of Fairfield. His partner is Angelique Le of Las Cruces NM.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents Peter and Delfina Reccasina, grandfather Edward Malloy, aunt Denise Reccasina Sutherland and aunt Colleen Malloy Keefe.

Visitation will be held at Behner’s Funeral Home on Thursday, July 11th from 6 - 8 PM. A celebration of life will be held at the Fairfield Arts and Convention Center expo hall at 2:00 PM Friday July 12th. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Noah’s Ark Foundation PO Box 748, Fairfield IA 52556.
