C. Marvin Kiews

July 11, 1931 — November 7, 2020

C. Marvin Kiews age 89 passed away Saturday, November 7, 2020.

There will be a private family celebration of life service at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Behner Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Cary officiating.  Following the service, burial will be at Batavia Cemetery.

In-lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Wapello & Davis County and mailed to Karen Gridley, 3205 Anastasia Place, Muscatine, Iowa 52761.

He was born to William (Bill) and Buleau Kiews July 11, 1931 in his parents home near Packwood, Iowa

He lived in Jefferson county almost all his life. He attended school at Devils Lake and Packwood, finishing his high school education and receiving his diploma while serving the US Army.  He served in the Army from May 1953 through May 1955 spending 16 months in Germany as a radio operator and learned Morris code. He married Pauline Miller Boysel June 6, 1957.  They had one son, William (Bill) Dean Kiews.  Pauline had one daughter Karen Marie Boysel.

Marvin was a farmer, he liked horses, dogs and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his grandsons. His

nickname was "Boon" because he was always hunting or riding a horse.

He loved the Lord, attending morning church services every Sunday with his wife and family at the Church of Christ in Abington, Iowa where he was a member. He held the office of treasurer and was a leader of the church for many years. On Sunday nights, he and his wife attended church at  the Christian Ranch Church of Christ in Ottumwa, where Dick Ellis preached, always taking some of their grandchildren with them.

In their early years, Marvin and wife Pauline and family spent a couple weeks each fall around Lusk, Wyoming at the Kenneth Roy Freeman’s Ranch deer hunting.

Surviving is his one son, William Dean “Bill”; 3 grandchildren, Justin Kiews and Raymond Kiews (wife Heather) both of Abingdon, Jyl Brown (husband James) of Richland; one great grandson, Braydon; one step daughter, Karen Gridley (husband Jerry) of Muscatine; 3 Step Grandchildren, Gina Chesling (husband David) Muscatine, Jason Gridley (wife Julie) Wilton Iowa, Paula Schmitt (husband Shane) Donahue, Iowa; 7 Step Great Grandchildren; 6 step Great Great Grandsons; sister, Doris Hicks of What Cheer; and nieces & nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Pauline; one brother, “Bud” Edwin; daughter-in-law, Michelle Kiews; and one brother-in-law, Leland Hicks.

He was a loving husband and father and grandfather.  He loved his stepdaughter and step grandchildren as if they were his own.  He will be greatly missed by his family and community.
