William Lee van Buren Sheppard

            William Lee van Buren Sheppard, 22, a resident of Fairfield, passed away Sunday, September 24, 2023 at Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.

            Visitation for family and friends will be 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Thursday, October 5, 2023 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield with Celebration of Life to follow at 6:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to Ronald McDonald House or American Heart Association.

            Will was born November 3, 2000 in Iowa City, the son of Bill and Eleanor (Connole) Sheppard.

            Will was a gentle soul who enjoyed the company of many wonderful friends. He enjoyed music, creating video clips, and playing the guitar. During high school, he was a member of the Fairfield High School Tennis team. Will was a psychology student at Indian Hills Community College.

            Those left to honor his memory include his parents, Bill and Eleanor Sheppard of Fairfield; aunts and uncles, Richard Connole, Caroline Carroll, Julia Connole, Jim Sheppard, Carol Ivan, and Cathy Schulte; and cousins, Emily McLain, Chelsea Carroll, Nicholas Carroll and Daniel Connole.

            He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John Connole, Eleanor Trask, and William and Betty Sheppard.
