Virginia May McTee

Virginia May McTee, age 87, of Fairfield, was received in the arms of her savior Tuesday, June 13, 2017, with her daughter Connie present, at the University of Iowa Hospital & Clinics, in Iowa City, IA.

Visitation will be 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Monday, June 19, 2017, at the Fairfield Friends Church.

Funeral services will follow the visitation at 7:00 pm, Monday, June 19, 2017, at the Fairfield Friends Church with Pastor Len Maselli officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

Virginia was born July 21, 1929, to Albert “Bacil” and Ruth (Nicholson) Derby. She married Robert Dean McTee September 1, 1948. Virginia and Bob were married almost 61 years before he passed away July 12, 2009.

Virginia graduated from Olds High School Class of1948 and was the valedictorian of her class. She helped Bob, her husband, on the farm and worked at Fairfield Glove Factory, Acco Industry and J&B Plastics. Virginia attended the Fairfield Friends Church. She was a prayer warrior and continued praying right up until she passed away. Virginia loved her family very much. She loved her animals and working outside in her garden or yard.

Virginia is survived by two daughters, Connie Bryant of North Liberty, IA, and Carol (James) Roach of Houston, TX; one son, Jerry McTee of Gadsden, AL; and 6 grandchildren, Tamera (Todd Goben) Bryant, Harold (Michelle) Bryant, Sara Hull, Megan Hull, Christopher Roach and Chelsea (Andre Nieves) Roach; two great grandchildren, Alex Bryant and Anna Sophia Nieves; one brother, Jack (Marolyn) Derby of Tucson, AZ; and two sisters, Nancy Weber of Benson, AZ and Roberta (Walter) Clark of Wilcox, AZ.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Bacil and Ruth Derby; her husband, Robert McTee; son-in-law, Rev. H. Burr Bryant; and daughter-in-law, Nancy Bradley McTee.
