Violet Leah Brown age 99, of Fairfield, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at Sunnybrook Assisted Living.

Visitation for family & friends will be 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Sunday, June 9, 2019, at Behner Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be 10:00 am, Monday, June 10, 2019, at First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Charles McCracken officiating.  Burial will be at 2:30 pm at Humeston Cemetery, Humeston, Iowa

In-lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church or Lord’s Cupboard.  Cards and memorials may be mailed to Reva Drake, 503 Spring Street, Humeston, Iowa 50123.

Violet was born April 8, 1920, in Humeston, Iowa to Gaither Warren and Mertie Jane (Smith) Greene.

Violet was a bookkeeper at Hutchinson & Son Furniture Store/Funeral Home business in Humeston where she met the love of her life, Thomas James Brown of Garden Grove, Iowa. She married Thomas James Brown on October 8, 1950, in Humeston, IA.  This year they would have been married 69 years before he passed away on April 1, 2019.

Violet and Tom have lived in Fairfield since 1970. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Fairfield PEO, American Legion Auxiliary, over 50-year member of Rebeka Lodge and enjoyed her Bridge Club friends.

She will be missed by her sister, Reva Drake and many nieces, nephews, family members and many friends.

Violet was preceded in death by her parents, Gaither and Mertie; husband, Tom; sisters and brothers-in-law, Beulah and Raymond Moon and Virginia and husbands Jack Montgomery and John Hutchison; brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Joan Greene, Gaither Jr. and Marcelee Greene, and Ivan and Mary Kay Greene; and brothers-in-law, Marvin Gould and Orris Drake.
