Susan Kay Vannoy, age 69 of Libertyville, passed away surrounded by her family Wednesday, November 13, 2019, at the University of Iowa Hospital & Clinics.
Visitation for family & friends will be 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 pm, Monday, November 18, 2019 at Behner Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will be 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Monte Knudsen officiating. Private burial of cremains will be at Competine Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to American Cancers Society Russell and Ann Gerdin Hope Lodge, Iowa City. Cards and memorials may be mailed to 707 East Maple Ave., Libertyville, IA 52567.
Susan was born August 2, 1950, in Ottumwa, IA to Elmer and Gleda (Bradfield) Hixson. She married Michael LeRoy Vannoy on September 15, 1973.
Susan graduated from Cardinal High School and went to Southeastern Community College and earned her Medical assistant Degree. She worked at Davis Podiatry in Fairfield as a medical assistant and later Books Are Fun in logistics. Susan loved being outdoors. Some of her outside interests were archery, hunting and fishing. Susan had a good sense of humor and was a prankster. She had a love for Belgian Horses. Even though Susan never served in the military, she was very patriotic and proud to live in America. Susan looked forward to spending time with her grandkids and the family bon fires. Sue loved cooking and baking and sharing her food with everyone.
Susan will be missed by her husband of 46 years, Michael Vannoy of Libertyville; 3 children, Angela (Todd) Bloomquist of Fairfield, Amy Greiner and Michael (Ashley) Vannoy II both of Libertyville; 7 grandchildren, Ashley and Malena Bloomquist, Kaitlyn and Kaleb Greiner and Kagan, Dallas and Kinnick Vannoy; and 3 siblings, Robert (Marilyn) Hixson of Albia, Mike Hixson of Des Moines and Tom Hixson of California.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Gleda; sister, Rosemary Terrell; brother, William Hixson Jr; and father-in-law, Darrell Vannoy.
