Shirley Louise Kitch, 85, formerly of Fairfield, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2025 at Country Lane Manor in Keosauqua.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield with Fr. Ross Epping officiating. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be at St. Alphonsus Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. Memorials may be made to Camp Courageous or St. Mary Catholic Church.
Shirley was born June 5, 1940, the daughter of Howard and Cecelia (VanDerSnick) Kitch.
Shirley was a natural caregiver, working at various daycare centers for children and providing home health care for adults. She was active in many veterans’ organizations and was instrumental in bringing the traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall to Fairfield.
Those left to honor her memory include her many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Marvin, Reuben, Bill, Donald, Wendell and Ronald Kitch; sisters, Jean McGee and Rita VanDerSnick; and niece, Mary Rose Kitch.
Shirley’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all of Shirley’s caregivers, especially Carolyn and Bob Pagenkopf and the staff at Country Lane Manor.
