Sheri L. Lowe

November 7, 1949 — March 10, 2019

Sheri L. Lowe passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2019, surrounded by her family at Sunnybrook Living Care Center. Celebration of Life service will be 11:00 am, Saturday, March 16, 2019, at Behner Funeral Home with Billy McLeland officiating.  Burial will be at a later date.  Following the service there will be a gathering at the Eagles.  Cards and memorials may be sent to the family at 709 West Taylor, Fairfield, Iowa 52556.

Sheri was born on November 7, 1949, to Frances Leon and Goldie Ellen (Willey) Gaston in Marshalltown, IA.  Her parents later moved to Beaman, Iowa where she attended and graduated from Beaman-Conrad High School in 1967.  She attended the University of Northern Iowa and graduated from Buena Vista University in 1972, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and Psychology Education.  She attended Ankeny Area Community College and graduated with an Associate of Arts Degree in Nursing Home Administration in 1983.

She married in 1972 and to this union was born one son, David Glassford.  The couple later divorced.  She remarried in 1992 to Everett (Ralph) Lowe.

Professionally, Sheri worked 42 years in Nursing Facilities.  She was the Administrator of Brookhaven Nursing Home at Brooklyn, Iowa for four years.  She came to Fairfield and became the Administrator of Nelson Nursing Home in 1986 and remained in that position until it closed.     She then went to work at Sunnybrook Living Care Center in Administration, Activities and Social Service.   She retired in 2018.  She loved her work and serving the elderly citizens of the Community.  She was a strong advocator of Resident Rights.

Sheri was a member of First Lutheran Church and a 30-year member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.   She and her husband spend many years involved in charity work for various organization which serve the handicap.  She is a member of the Women’s Hall of Fame and won many awards for her Ritual and Degree Work.  She also belonged to many Boards at Indian Hills Community College.

Sheri’s hobbies include reading, crafts, refinishing furniture and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Ralph; her son David (Kristin) Glassford, Luke (Lisa) Lowe, Lance (Tiffany) Lowe, Lee Lowe, Lorelea Lowe; one brother, Lyle Gaston; one sister, Rita Stewart; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Sheri was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Sam Glassford, both paternal and maternal grandparents, numerous aunts and uncles.
