Ronald Gene Nordyke

Ronald Nordyke age 80 of Abingdon passed away Monday, December 20, 2021, at Good Samaritan Society in Ottumwa.

Private graveside memorial service will be held at Abingdon Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Kidney Foundation and mailed to Carol Nordyke, 1196 Brookville Road, Batavia, Iowa 52533.

Ronald was born July 13, 1941, to Carl and Maud (Smith) Nordyke.  He married Carol Reinier on September 21, 1968.

Ronald has lived all his life in Jefferson County.  He served in the Army from 1967-1969 during Vietnam War.  Ronald worked at Rockwell as a machinist.  He liked to work with junk (scrap iron) as a hobby.   Ronald was happy when he was “junkin” and after retirement that is where you would find him “junkin”.  He enjoyed spending time with family.  Ronald and Carol helped raise their granddaughters.

Ronald will be missed by his wife of 53 years, Carol; son, Timothy Nordyke of Kirkville, IA; 3 granddaughters, Stephanie Collins, Ericka Singer and Amy Nordyke; brother, Delbert (Mary Ann) of Abingdon; sister, Mary (Mike) Day of Pennsylvania; and many nieces and nephews.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Maud; 6 brothers, Walter, Kenneth, Dave, Richard, Robert, William "Bill"; and three sisters, Madeline, Helen and Grace.
