Ronald "Ron" Martin

Ronald “Ron” Martin age 82 of Fairfield passed away Monday, November 14, 2016 at his home.

Visitation for family and friends will be 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Behner Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will be 10:00 am, Friday, November 18, 2016 at Behner Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Cary officiating. Burial with military rites will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, IA.

Ron was born September 30, 1934 in Ottumwa, IA to Fredrick Lee and Ceclia (Bergmeir) Martin. He married Darlene Fern Goldsberry August 6, 1954 in Lancaster, MO. She passed away December 9, 2007.

Ron served in the US Army during the Korean War. He worked as manager at Clark Gas Station on Briggs and moved to Fina Gas station at 2nd Street and Kirkwood. Ron had an Iowa parcel route for many years. He finished his career at Bob’s Automotive as a mechanic. Even after Ron retired he worked at Lorianes Restaurant in Richland and helped his son Royce at Martin Auction Service. He loved and worried about all of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ron would check on his children daily. He will be remembered for his bright smile and funny attitude. Some of Ron’s interests were golf, catfishing, old western towns & movies (John Wayne movies), Texas long horn cattle and going to old forts. He was an avid Cubs fan and Hawkeyes fan.

Ron is survived by his children, Rodney (Rhonda) Martin of McPherson, KS, Rhonda (Terry) Wonderlich of Ollie, IA, Rochelle (Earl) McCabe, Royce Martin and Reanea (Kevin) Frisbie all of Fairfield, IA; 20 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and one sister, Connie Hendricks of Des Moines, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents Fredrick and Ceclia Martin; his wife, Darlene; one son, Randy; one grandson, Buddy Frisbie; one great grandson, Cody Chatfield; and two sisters, Mary Speer and Joyce Mitrisin.
