Richard Roy Jewell

Richard Roy Jewell age 85 of Fairfield passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, IA.

Visitation for family & friends will be 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm, Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Behner Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 am, Monday, November 21, 2016 at Behner Funeral Home with Pastor Phil Ross and Pastor John Brown officiating. Burial with military rites will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, IA.

Richard was born January 24, 1931 in Fairfield, IA to Roy Morris and Frieda Blough (Hedge) Jewell. He married Roberta Betty Robison June 22, 1974in Sweetland, IA.

Richard served in the US Army during the Korean War as a radio operator. He was a lifelong resident of the Fairfield area and farmed his entire life. Roberta joined Richard on the farm in 1974. He served as president of the Senior Center Board, was a member of Farm Bureau, Ham Radio Operator Club and Zion Bible Church.

Richard is survived by his wife, Roberta Jewell of Fairfield; one brother, Donald Dean (Lola) Jewell of Moline, IL; one sister, Erma Elizabeth Nelson of Burlington, IA; nieces and nephews; and his dog, Zacque Pierre.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Frieda Jewell.
