Randal "Randy" Johnson

Randal “Randy” Johnson age 69 of Ankeny passed away Sunday, June 20, 2021, at his home.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 25, 2021, at Behner Funeral Home with Pastor Frosty VanVoorst officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Fairfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Animal Rescue League of Iowa, 5452 NE 22nd Street, Des Moines, Iowa 50313.

Randy was born August 15, 1951, in Fairfield to Herbert “Herb” and Betty “Jean” (Brereton) Johnson.  He married Melinda in 1997.

Randy grew up on a farm.  He went to a one room school house until 8th grade and moved to Fairfield where he graduated from Fairfield High School.  Randy worked in the accounting department at Wellmark and Courtyard by Marriott as a night auditor where he recently received “Employee of the Month”.  Randy was a huge Iowa State fan.  He enjoyed traveling and his dogs.  Jake was always sitting on his lap.

Randy will be missed by his children, Caitlin (James) Corbett of Altoona, Cassandra (Mitchell) Wolfgram of Farmington, MN, Alan Johnson and Zooey Johnson both of Ankeny, Andy Johnson, Alex Johnson; 4 grandchildren; mother, Jean Johnson of Fairfield; 1 brother, Harold “Butch” Johnson of Dickinson, TX; and his ex-wife, Melinda Johnson.

Randy was preceded in death by his father, Herb; and many pets.
