Phillip "Phil" Ray Ferrel

Phillip “Phil” Ray Ferrel, age 73 of Fairfield passed away September 12, 2015.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00pm -8:00 pm, Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Behner Funeral Home & Crematory in Fairfield.

A Memorial Service will be held 10:30 am, Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Behner Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Danny Cary officiating. Burial will follow the service at Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield.

Per his wishes the body has been cremated.

Phil was born February 3, 1942 to Ivyl Ferrel and Wilda Huffman in Fairfield. He married Rose Ann Fulton in 1963 in Fairfield. Phil grew up in Libertyville, IA. After he and Rose Ann were married they lived in Fairfield.

He graduated from Fairfield High School with the class of 1961. Phil was a design engineer at John Deere in Ottumwa for 24 years before he retired in 1996. He enjoyed being outdoors; especially enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with the grandkids.

Phil is survived by his wife, Rose Ann Ferrel of Fairfield; 3 children, Todd (Denise Johnston) Ferrel of Des Moines, IA, Brett (Amy) Ferrel of Fairfield, IA and Dan (Lezlee) of Waukee, IA; 8 Grandchildren, Cole Ferrel, Brock Ferrel, Taylor Ferrel, Maggie Ferrel, Carly Ferrel, Addison Ferrel, Alexa Ferrel and Drew Ferrel; one brother, Vic Ferrel of Fairfield, IA; and one sister, Marcene McCarty of Phoenix, AZ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivyl and Wilda Ferrel; Grandparents; and brother, Paul Ferrel.
