Norma Jean Holmes

Norma Jean Holmes age 89, of Fairfield, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2017, at Jefferson County Health Center.

Visitation will start at 8:00 am with family present from 10:00 am – 11:00 am, Thursday, October 12, 2017, at Behner Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be 11:00 am, Thursday, October, 12, 2017 with Pastor Joseph Phipps officiating. After the service she will be cremated and burial of cremains will be at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery.

Norma was born September 15, 1928, in Keokuk County to Wilford and Geneva (Cox) Teller. She married George Holmes on March 14, 1948. They celebrated 46 years of marriage before George passed away August 23, 1994.

Norma was a lifelong resident of Fairfield. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for 50 years where she served as an elder and was the church secretary for a number of years. Norma was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star and had been Worthy Matron, District Instructor and Grand Marshal. She was a member of Chapter HA-PEO. Norma enjoyed taking trips with the Heritage Club.

Left to share Norma’s memory is her daughter, Mary (Dick) Reed of Fairfield; daughter-in-law, Debra Holmes; 4 grandchildren, Kimberly (Steve) Winslow, Christopher (Kristi) Reed, Jeffrey Reed and Trenton Holmes; and 5 great grandchildren, Brittany Winslow, Erica Winslow, Austin Winslow, Conner Reed and Audrey Reed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilford and Geneva Teller; husband, George Holmes; one son, Stephen Holmes; and one sister Janice Watts.
