Mary Helen Kessler

Mary Helen Kessler age 76 of Fairfield, passed away November 1, 2018, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, IA.

Graveside memorial service will be at Pleasant Plain Friends Cemetery 10:30 am, Thursday, November 8, 2018, with Pastor Len Maselli officiating.

Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital or Donor’s choice.  Cards and memorials may be mailed to 1204 South 4th Street, Fairfield, Iowa 52556.

Mary was born January 14, 1942, to Huston and Gladys (Johnson) Britt in Oregon.  She married Joseph Edward Kessler December 19, 1959, and celebrated 58 years of marriage.

Mary graduated from Cardinal High School.  She and Joe lived 42 years in Pleasant Plain and the last 9 years in Fairfield.  Mary loved being outside working in her garden or camping.  She enjoyed cooking, baking and sewing.  What meant the most to Mary was spending time with her family.  She will be missed by those who called her wife, mom, grandma, great grandma, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend.

Left to share Mary’s memories are her husband, Joseph Kessler of Fairfield; her daughter, Roberta Nicholson of Guthrie Center, IA; one granddaughter, Cassie Nicholson; one grandson, Keenan Nicholson; 3 great grandsons; one granddaughter; two siblings, Madeline (Leo) Martinez of Texas and Mike (Kathy) Britt of Batavia; and nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Milicent Crile.
