Marilyn Lisa (Black) Ratliff

Marilyn Lisa (Black) Ratliff, age 62, of Bloomfield passed away December 21, 2017, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 29, 2017, at the Cantril United Methodist Church with Reverend Donna Olinger officiating. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, Cantril.

A gathering for friends and family will follow the burial at the cemetery at the Cantril United Methodist Church.

Marilyn was born on November 9, 1955, to Robert P. and Donna (Davis) Black Sr. She was adopted and raised by Earl Oren and Ruth Elizabeth (Black) Keller. Marilyn married Timothy “Timmy” Dale Ratliff on February 27, 1994.

Marilyn was raised and spent most of her life in the Milton, Van Buren County area. She had a Degree in Medical records, and in Secondary Education. Marilyn worked for child health specialty clinics and retired in 2012. She was a member of VFW ladies auxiliary, Marilyn chaired the Van Buren County Democratic Committee. She was an artist, made jewelry out of gold or sterling silver, avid collector of unique items, and enjoyed going to garage sales, doing family genealogy, most of all spending time with family and friends.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Timothy “Timmy” Ratliff of Bloomfield; her daughter, Kari Ann Naill of Birmingham, IA; one sister, Myra Kness of Albia, IA; 10 nephews, 7 nieces, and many great nieces and nephews.

Marilyn was preceded by her parents; one brother, Robert Paul Black Jr.; and one sister, Laura Laumeyer.
