Margaret Newell

Margaret (Peg) Howell Newell, aged 100, passed into eternal life at Valley View Village in Des Moines, Iowa, on January 16, 2017.

Peg was active and vivacious until a recent compression fracture in her spine took away her mobility. She was born in 1916 at home on the Howell family farm, SE of Glasgow, Iowa that was settled by her great-grandparents in 1839. The farm is still in the Howell family.

Surviving are her high school sweetheart and loving husband of 81 years, Kenneth, children, Carolyn Burnett (Jim), Don Newell (Martha), Nancy Penn (Jack), Linda Hutchins (John), Craig Newell, a sister, Fern Crafton and a sister-in-law, Rachel Howell, both of Fairfield. Ken and Peg were also Grandparents of 10, Great-grandparents of 17, and Great-great-grandparents of 5.

She was pre-deceased by her parents, Parvin & Helen of Glasgow, sisters, Vernie Metz of Fairfield, Evelyn Zumdome of Ft. Madison, and brothers George, of Louisville and Thomas of Glasgow.
