Mae M. Griffiths, age 101, a resident of Ormond Beach, Florida and former resident of Chicago, Illinois, died peacefully Thursday morning with her family by her side.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday June 23, 2011 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, Iowa with Nate Nims officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield.

Visitation for family and friends will be 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday June 23, 2011 prior to the Service at Behner Funeral Home.

In Lieu of Flowers the family ask donations be made in Mae's honor to Vistas Innovative Hospice Care, 2381 Mason Ave. Ste. 100, Daytona Beach, FL. 32117.

Mae Milre Howard was born on October 11, 1909 in Du Bois, Nebraska, the daughter of Jay and Matilda Howard. She was baptized in the Methodist Church and attended Fairfield High School.

She will be especially remembered for her gift of Friendship and love of family. She was a great cook with her special flair of many dishes especially her fudge. She enjoyed years of travel in their air stream motor-trailer and their sailboat the "Applejack".

Mae is survived by 1 brother: Roy Howard of Mabank, TX, 1 son: Paul Stoehr of Ormond Beach, FL, 2 grand-daughters: Denise and Susan Stoehr of Holly Hill, FL and good friend and caregiver: Melissa Thacker of Holly Hill, FL.

Mae will be missed by her many nieces and nephews: Lewis Lazarus of Chicago, IL, Roy Howard Jr. and family of Temecula, CA, Wilma Parsons and family of Colorado Springs, CO, Pat Antonacci and family of Chicago, IL, Milton Howard and family of Atlanta, IL, Joy Simmons and family of Mabank, TX and Louann Persinger of Omaha, NE.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years: Ernest, 2 brothers: Rollin Howard of Fairfield, IA and Milton Howard of Atlanta, IL and 2 sisters: Wilma Lazarus of Chicago, IL and Lula Lippert of Omaha, NE.
