Lois Billingsley

Lois Billingsley age 93 of Lockridge, passed away Sunday, August 29, 2021, at Sunnybrook Living Care Center, Fairfield.

Open visitation for family & friends will be 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, September 2, 2021, at Behner Funeral Home.   The family will not be present.

Private graveside service will be at Glasgow Cemetery with Pastor Al Coffin officiating.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Fairfield, IA or Glasgow Cemetery Association and mailed to Jim Billingsley, 2167 Greenbrier Circle, Fairfield, Iowa 52556.

Lois was born January 29, 1928 to Harry and Mabel (Hamilton) Coop. She married Donald Billingsley on January 30, 1949, at First United Methodist Church in Fairfield. They celebrated 66 years of marriage before he passed away on July 13, 2015.

Lois graduated from Fairfield High School Class of 1946.  She worked in the office at Dexter Company from May 1946 until January 1949, Fairfield School District as a secretary at the Lockridge Center for 13 years and 8 years on Panther Drug in Mt. Pleasant retiring in 1982.  Lois was a member of Glasgow United Methodist Church until it closed at which time, they transferred their membership to the First United Methodist Church in Fairfield.  She was a member of Glasgow Dorcas Society, United Methodist Women, Red Hats, Ruth Circle and Meth-O-Weds Sunday School Class. Lois was former UMW Secretary for the Ottumwa District.  She enjoyed traveling, camping, gardening, sewing, and playing cards.  Most important was spending time with her family and visiting with friends.

Lois will be missed by her two sons, James (Debbie) Billingsley of Fairfield, IA and Michael (Deb) Billingsley of Cumming, IA; 3 grandchildren, Laura (Eric) Kochneff, Kristin (Steve) Cooper and Dana Billingsley; and 5 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Mabel; and husband, Donald
