Leslie P. Lane, age 59, passed away on Thursday, September 14, in an automobile accident north of Ottumwa. She was born in Washington, Iowa, to Cloyce and Nelda (Williams) Palmer and was the youngest of three children.
A resident of Fairfield for over 30 years, she loved Iowa's natural landscapes and worked to beautify the grounds of many homes and businesses during her career as a landscape artist. A lover of both horses and dogs, she trained and rode Arabian horses, and nearly always traveled with her German Shepherd, Leah.
Leslie is survived by her parents, her sister Alyse, brother Kim, daughter Kahlise, her sons Adam and Orion, and her loving husband Millard Elston III.
Family will gather at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines for a private memorial service on Sunday, September 17. The public is welcome to attend the burial following the service at 4:00 pm, Sunday, September 17 at Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Danville with Pastor John Augspurger officiating.
Leslie's family would like to thank all those in the community who showed her love and kindness. She will be remembered for her fighting spirit, her wry sense of humor, and her beautiful smile.
