LaVelle Nadean Ridgway

LaVelle Nadean Ridgway, age 83, of Fairfield, passed away May 29, 2016 at her home in Fairfield, Iowa.

In accordance with her wishes, the body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at the Gospel Lighthouse Church in Batavia, Iowa on Saturday, June 4th at 10:30 am with Pastor Randy Sweeney officiating. A private burial service will be held at a later date.

LaVelle was born June 16, 1932 to George and Opal Mairet in Batavia, IA. She married Rex Ridgway in 1955. He passed away April 22, 1986.

LaVelle graduated from Batavia High School with the class of 1951. She lived in Jefferson County all of her life. She worked at the Fairfield Glove Company for over 30 years. LaVelle’s passions were playing guitar at church, tending to her flowers, and gardening. She also enjoyed spending lots of time with her family.

She is survived by her son, Rodger (Deb) Ridgway of Colorado Springs, CO; her daughter, Judy (Craig) Simmons of Birmingham, IA; one granddaughter, Shelbie Simmons; and two sisters, Margie Mairet of Fairfield, IA and Juanita Jones of Ottumwa, IA.

LaVelle was preceded in death by her parents, George and Opal Mairet; her husband, Rex Ridgway; two sisters, Darlene Leahy and Rosie Mairet; and one brother, Roscoe Webb.
