Keith Eugene Mitchell

Keith E. Mitchell age 82, of 208 S. Court St. Fairfield, IA, passed away Nov. 24, 2007 at the Jefferson County Hospital. The body has been cremated.

Graveside Memorial Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007 at Abingdon Cemetery with Pastor Keevin Koch officiating.

Keith was born Aug. 11, 1925 to Lawrence Earl and Florence Myers Mitchell in rural Packwood, Iowa. Keith married Nathalie Ann Hill on June 4, 1947 in Shawano, WI. She passed away
in May of 1992.

Keith has lived most of his life in the Fairfield and Jefferson County area. He farmed in the Abingdon area and did custom grinding and mixing for farmers and was a Moorman's Feed salesman in the Abingdon area. Keith and Nathalie ran the Bogus Grocery for several years. They also owned and operated the Hub Restaurant in Packwood, IA.

He was an avid Cubs baseball fan. Keith was a member of Fairfield VFW Post 2271 and served as Commander from 1988 to 1989. He also was a member of the Eagles Lodge 1927 of Fairfield. Keith was a WWII Marine Veteran and recieved the Purple Heart.

Keith is survived by two daughters and one son: Mary Louise & (Dan ) Horton of Council Bluffs, IA, Donna Jean & (Steven ) Yeager of Martinsburg, IA, and Larry & (Pam ) Mitchell of Batavia, IA. Keith has two grandchildren, two step grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Keith was preceded by his parents, and his wife Nathalie Ann Mitchell.
