Kathryn Jean Unkrich

Kathryn Jean Unkrich, age 88 formerly of Fairfield, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2017 at Keosauqua Health Care Center.

Per her wishes she has been cremated and a graveside service will be held at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery.

Kathryn was born June 11, 1929, in Fairfield, IA to Hugh and Clara (Krumboltz) McWhirter. She married Chris Unkrich on February 14, 1948. He passed away June 15, 1982.

Kathryn graduated from Fairfield High School and worked at Jim’s Jack & Jill. She enjoyed gardening, reading and doing jigsaw puzzles. Kathryn went to the Faith United Methodist Church.

Left to share Kathryn’s memories is her daughter, Dianne (Ken) Rowe of Pelham, AL; one daughter-in-law, Melody Unkrich of Fairfield, IA; and one grandchild, Macy Kriss Unkrich.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Clara; husband, Chris; one son, Bruce Unkrich; one brother, Bernard McWhirter; and personal friend, Carl Jenkins.
