John E. Reichert

John E Reichert age 91, of Fairfield, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2017 at his daughter’s house in Moline, IL.

Visitation for family & friends will be 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Thursday, November 2, 2017, at Behner Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 am, Friday, November 3, 2017, at the Behner Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Cary and Pastor Jim Altmaier officiating. Burial with military rites will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield, IA.

John was born August 7, 1926, to Rev. George and Emma (Koch) Reichert in Winnebago, MN. He married Betty Joan Dodds on October 9, 1949, in Fairfield, IA. They were married 57 years before she passed away May 24, 2007.

John served in the Navy Seabee from 1944-1946. He worked for Iowa Department of Transportation as a bridge & construction coordinator for 41 years. John attended the New Life Community Church. He enjoyed taking day trips or car rides, listening to Christian music, playing the harmonica and doing word search or crossword puzzles. John looked forward to spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids.

Left to share John’s memory is his daughter, Kimberly (Mark) Mills of Moline, IL; 4 grandchildren, Cristen (Nathan) Lykken, Greg (Heather) Mills, Samantha (Chris) Mendoza and Paul (Lindsey) Mills; and 5 great granddaughters, Myah, Averli, Annalise, Olyvia, and Miri.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. George and Emma Reichert; his wife, Betty; 2 grandchildren; one brother, Charles Reichert; and one sister, Ruth Hurley.
