John Linnell Fishel

John Linnell Fishel age 75 of Fairfield, passed away Friday, December 16, 2016 at Jefferson County Health Center.

Visitation for family & friends will be 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Wednesday, December 21, 2016.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 am, Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Behner Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Cary officiating. Following the service the body will be cremated. Burial of cremains will be at a later date.

John was born January 26, 1941 to Lester and Marguerite (Linnell) Fishel in Iowa City, IA. He married Jane Connor January 29, 1988 in Fairfield, IA at the Fairfield Foursquare Church.

John graduated from Fairfield High School. He worked for 34 years at Iowa Malleable in the maintenance department. John was a member of the Eagles Club, an avid bowler and liked to play cards. He was a diehard St. Louis Cardinals fan and watched all Hawkeye sports. John would follow the Fairfield Trojans football and bowling.

John is survived by his wife, Jane Fishel of Fairfield, IA; two children, David (Pamela) Fishel and Melinda (Larry White) Fishel both of Fairfield, IA; 5 grandchildren, Luke (Bethany) Fishel, Laura Fishel, Derek Fishel, Brittney (Josh) Sawyer and Brayden Fishel; 3 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Nellie (Dean) Oosthoek of Fairfield, IA, Lesta Rowland of Knoxville, IA and Miriam Thompson of Winston Salem, NC.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Marguerite Fishel; one sister, Marie Baker; two brother-in-law’s, Kenny Baker and James Rowland.
