Jean Lavon Howard

Jean Lavon Howard age 86 of Fairfield, passed away Monday, May 23, 2016 at Jefferson County Health Center.

Visitation for family and friends will be 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm, Friday, May 27, 2016 at Fairfield Friends Church.

Memorial service will be 6:30 pm, Friday, May 27, 2016 at Fairfield Friends Church with Pastor John Wilbur officiating. Burial of cremains will be at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery.

Jean was born April 4, 1930 to Jesse and Margret (Matthew) Gaff in Churubusco, IN. She married Rollin Howard Jr. May 3, 1961 in Las Vegas, NV. This year they celebrated 55 years of marriage.

Jean and Rollin moved to Fairfield in May 1975. She was a farmer’s wife and homemaker. Jean was a very good cook. She didn’t just cook for her family, she was the lead cook at the sale barn and Family Café. Jean liked to play cards, bingo, cribbage, other games and was a Chicago Cubs fan.

Jean is survived by her husband, Rollin Howard Jr. of Fairfield, IA; three children, Rollin (Theresa) Howard III of Sachse, TX, Kimberley (Tom) Guffey and Cory Howard both of Fairfield, IA; 5 grandchildren, Rollin IV, Joshua, Zachary, Roxanne and Justin; 3 great grandchildren; and her extended daughter, Sandra Dolan of Fort Wayne, IN and her family which included four grandchildren, Tracey, Jean, Patrick and Danielle; and 8 great grandchildren.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Margret Gaff; three brothers, Joe, Ted, and Lou Gaff; and three sisters, Lois Molargik, Vernice Swafford and Velda Harts.
