Jacob Jon Schmitt

Jacob Jon Schmitt, age 43 of Ollie, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2018, at his home.

A memorial service will be 4:00 pm, Sunday, July 15, 2018, at Behner Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Reeves officiating.  Burials of cremains will be at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the family and mailed to 30867 County Road V5G, Ollie, IA 52576.

Jacob was born October 14, 1974, in Dubuque, IA to Melodie Reinier and Michael Schmitt.

Jacob graduated from Pekin with the class of 1993.  When he was 16 he started his own greenhouse and had over 300 plants.  Jacob sold some of them to business owners or would give them to the elderly so they could enjoy them.  He worked as a supervisor at Botanical CTR in Fairfield.  Jacobs collected sun moon stars and antique coke memorabilia. He liked to listen to classic rock music such as, the Beatles and Pink Floyd.  Jacob loved his pets, the last were his sweet pit bulls, Hailey and Pugsly.

Left to share his memories are his mother, Melodie Whitehurst of Ollie; his father, Michael Schmitt of Dubuque; two sisters, Hannah Bagwell of Salt Lake City, UT and Bethany Huddleston of Pella, IA; his grandmothers, Judy Deitrich of Ollie, IA and Wilma Reinier of York PA; and countless nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Vernon Reinier and Garry Deitrich.
