Hattie Lucille Manning Hoover

Hattie Manning Hoover, 95, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2023 in Keosauqua, IA. Hattie Lucille Nash was born on May 1st, 1927 to Elwood and Bertha (Dunsmor) Nash in Pleasant Plain, IA.

She married Dale James Manning in Brighton on November 12, 1946. Together, they had four daughters: Judith, Carole, Joan and Sherry. He passed away May 26, 1975. She later married Jack Hoover of Richland, IA on July 21, 2001. He passed away November 12, 2003.

Hattie was a schoolteacher and a homemaker. She also worked at Harper Brush for many years. She loved to quilt, sew, read, keep up with a very large garden or you could find her doing puzzles or crosswords. She loved her family and friends and would always put everyone else first before herself. If you mentioned her children, grandchildren or great grandchildren her smile would light up a room.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband’s Dale Manning and Jack Hoover. Her siblings: George, Omer, Luella “Sis”, Warren, Herbert "Herb", Louis “Jake”, Gertrude, Mary and Charles.

Left to carry on her memory: Her sisters, Stella Rich of Washington, IA and Beatrice Stull of Ollie, IA and one sister-in-law, Evelyn Nash of Newton, IA. Her children: Judith (Hank) Bodyk, Carole (Bill) Gevock, Joan (Tom) Nelson, and Sherry (Rodney) Peck. Her grandchildren: Jennifer Bodyk, Dale (Anjuli) Bodyk, Chris (Cathy) Gevock, Cindy (Jim) Holt, Tracey (Les) Beatty, Deanna Gevock, Stephanie (Jeremy) Cook, Kristian (Gina) Nelson, Kyle (Nicole) Nelson, Chelsea (Mitch) Black, Dana Peck, Heather (Matt) Briggs, Katie (Cale) Plowman, Kylie Peck and Ryan Peck. Her great grandchildren: Lilia Bodyk, Henry Bodyk, Roman Gevock, Amber Gevock, Bill Gevock, Caitlyn Lani, Brenden Holt, Annelise Holt, Lane Beatty, Grace Beatty, David Beatty, Hayden Cook, Hailey Cook, Lucy Nelson, Gianna Nelson, Brady Nelson, Lakin Black, Logan Plowman and Lance Plowman.

Visitation for family & friends will be 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 20, 2023, at Behner Funeral Home.  A funeral service will start at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Frosty Van Voorst officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and can be mailed to Sherry Peck, 29184 170th Street, Stockport, Iowa 52651.
