Harry (H. Roy) Lamansky age 91, of Fairfield passed away Wednesday, April 17, at McCreedy Home.
Visitation with family present will be 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm Thursday, April 25th, at St. Mary’s Church in Fairfield.
Funeral service will be also be at St. Mary’s starting 10:30 am Friday, April 26th with Father Nicholas Adam officiating. After the funeral there will be a dinner followed by burial later at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in East Pleasant Plain.
In lieu of flowers, memorials and cards can be sent to the Roy Lamansky Memorial at 2946 122nd Blvd., Brighton, Iowa 52540.
H. Roy was born June 2, 1927, at the home farm near Pleasant Plain to George and Helen (Lahr) Lamansky. He married Beverly Dory on June 1, 1953 in Cumberland.
H. Roy was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County. He farmed and was a County Supervisor for 15 years. Starting at age 19 until he turned 86 he had logged over 102 years of cumulative years of community service, mainly in education. Roy received numerous awards including the Governor’s Volunteer Award and Special Commission to the State Job Training Coordinating Council from Terry Brandstad, and the first ever IAACT Lifetime Achievement Award. He was a charter member of the Fairfield Knights of Columbus and belonged to many other clubs.
Left to share H. Roy’s memories are his wife Beverly, sister Florence Paarman, his children, Joseph (Brenda) Lamansky, Daniel Lamansky, Ron (Christe) Lamansky, Jane (Dave) Nefores, Barbara (Dan) Mottet and Karen (Heath) Foreman. He has 24 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter RoAnne Larson; brothers Joseph, Francis and Charles Lamansky and sisters Mary Peck, Sister Josephus Lamansky, Rosa Bissel, Martha Lundh and Josephine Lamansky.
