George Addison Vorhies, 96 of Fairfield, passed away September 30, 2015 at Jefferson Country Health Center.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Behner Funeral Home with Pastor Elizabeth Bell officiating. Burial of cremains will be at a later date.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:15- 10:30 on Saturday October 3, 2015.

George was born in Lockridge on July 10, 1919 to Marshall and Emma Johnson Vorhies. He married Dora Adams on January 10, 1945 in Fairfield. She passed away October 14, 2012.
George served in the U.S. Navy from 1936 to 1945 during World War II. He was a Pearl Harbor Survivor. George worked at Dexter Company as a Metal Smith for 37 years. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Fairfield. He was also a member of the V.F.W. Post 2271 where he was a past local Post Commander. George was an avid trap and skeet shooter, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with family and friends.
George is survived by his 2 children, Leslie Gentry and Lane (Julie) Vorhies, both of Fairfield; 5 grandchildren, G.G. (Mike) Laux, James (April) Gentry, Hoyt (Sheila) Gentry, Skylar (Seth) Cecil and Cole Vorhies; and 8 great-grandchildren, Dylan Laux, Courtney Laux, Dalton Laux. Cheyanne Laux, Kaitlon (Quinn) Burck, Jake Gentry, Peyton Gentry, Preston Gentry.
He was preceded by his parents Marshall and Emma Vorhies and 4 brothers: Clarence, Grant, Harold and Lester Vorhies.
