Geneva C. Meck, 93, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at 4:15am at Heddington Oaks in Peoria, IL.
Geneva was born March 6, 1925 to Peter and Matilda Cavin Spainer of rural Richland, Iowa.
She married Walter James Yoder of Kalona, IA, in 1941. They had three children: Howard James (Jim), Shirley Marie and Donald Ray.
Geneva married Clifton N. Meck of rural Fairfield, Iowa in 1952. He passed away in 2005. Her youngest son, Don Yoder passed away December 25, 2014, in California and her eldest son, Howard James (Jim) passed away October 14, 2016, in Arkansas.
Geneva was "The Best Cook in 3 Counties" according to her husband and her family. Her pies and other cooking talents were amazing. She loved to crochet, garden, sew, she loved her flowers. Geneva helped support her family by working multiple jobs over the years.
The last of her generation, Geneva will join her loved ones in Heaven: husband Cliff, sons Don and Jim, grandson Mark, parents Peter and Matilda, sister Helen Lewis Halstead, brothers: Kenneth (Phyllis), Vern (Mary), Jack, George and infant brother Harold Dean; half sisters: Laura Stephens, Margaret Krewson and Irene Roberts. She will also meet her great-great granddaughter Paytan for the first time.
Survivors include her daughter Shirley (Harold) Whitmer of Peoria, IL; daughter-in-law Betty Yoder of California; sister-in-law Jean Spanier of Florida. Geneva has 9 grandchildren: Scott (Daphne) Whitmer of Missouri, Kristina (Ronald) Alcorn and Brian (Rebecca) Whitmer of IL; Brenda (Lawrence) White, Jerri Beghtol and Donald James (Christine) Yoder of California; Robin (Brenda) Yoder, Robert (Vickie) Yoder and Jodie Yoder of Iowa. Geneva has 26 great grandchildren: Ryan, Nicole, Sean, Joshua, Dustin, Stormie, Cyndal, Meagan, Christopher (Courtney), Matthew (Emily), Sean, Kaytlin, Amber, Brandon, Tyler, Connor, Brandon, Heather, Caitlin, Alison, Bryce, Sean, Travis, Cole, Lauren, Madison. Geneva also has 8 great-great grandchildren.

Davison-Fulton Funeral Chapels in Peoria, IL is helping the family in Peoria. Behner Funeral Home is helping the family in Fairfield. Visitation for family & friends will be 10:00- 11:00 am, Monday, March 12, 2018 at Behner Funeral Home with funeral service to follow at 11:00 am with Pastor Herb Shafer officiating. Burial will be after the service at Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham, Iowa.
