Ferne Wickliff

Ferne (Headley) Wickliff entered heavens gates September 30th, 2018 met by her husband, Pete; children: Kim, Brad, and Gina (Hugunin); sisters: Phyllis (Lavirn) Stisser of Wyoming, Illinois, Virginia (Joe) Zeier of Tennessee; brothers: Bud (Betty) Headley of Fairfield, Iowa, Clifford Headley of California; and parents: Howard and Winnie Ahlgren Headley, as well as 2 nephews and 4 nieces.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Iowa Donor Network or a memorial of your choice. Visitation will be held at the Behner Funeral Home on Friday, October 5th, from 5-7pm.  Services will be held Saturday, October 6th at 10:30am at the Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Ferne was born November 10, 1932, in Bishop Hill, Illinois. She graduated from Fairfield High School in 1951, and she married Donald (Pete) Wickliff May 11, 1952, until his passing on July 18, 2017.

Ferne lived on the farm while rearing her family for 34 years. Ferne had several jobs over the years including: working at Off Broadway Grill in high school and Philco after graduation.  She owned her own businesses of interior/exterior painting and wall papering.  Ferne became a Realtor and opened a successful Real estate office with her husband called Wickliff Real Estate from 1984 thru retirement.

Ferne enjoyed life with her family and especially traveling to watch her grandchildren in activities. She loved each of her grandchildren and strived to show them (all) how to value the things they have, versus worrying about things they didn’t have. She loved to laugh and always wanted her children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren to know that she loved each beyond measure.

Ferne is survived by a daughter, Cindy (Scott) Wisecarver of LaGrange, Kentucky; son-in-law, Jeff Hugunin of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; 5 grandchildren: Ryan (Kassaundra) Wisecarver of Star, Idaho, Shane (Brooke) Wisecarver of Crestwood, Kentucky, Bret (Morgan) Wisecarver of Overland Park, Kansas, Grady Hugunin of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Darby Hugunin of Omaha, Nebraska; 2 great-grandchildren: Eisleigh Wisecarver in Star, Idaho and Beau Wisecarver in Crestwood, Kentucky; a sister, June (Don, deceased) Chezum who lives in Galesburg, Illinois; a sister-in-law, Ruth (Clifford, deceased) Headley who lives in California and also, 6 nieces to carry on her memories.
