Earl "Gene" Eugene Cubbage

Earl “Gene” Eugene Cubbage, age 93 of Batavia, IA passed away Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Sunny Brook Living Care Center, Fairfield, IA.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 am, Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Behner Funeral Home with Pastor Elizabeth Bell officiating. Burial will be at Fell Cemetery, Libertyville, IA.

Visitation for family and friends will be, 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Behner Funeral Home.

Gene was born September 1, 1920 to Ruben James and Cora Elmina (Brown) Cubbage in Libertyville, IA. He married L. Ruth Tensing August 27, 1944 in Bloomfield, IA. She passed away April 20, 1988.

Gene worked as a machinist at Rockwell for 26 years and farmed all his life. He loved to farm and work with his cattle. His dogs and cats were great company while he worked outside. Gene was on the Fell Cemetery Board and belonged to the McDonalds Coffee Club. He loved spending time with his family, and friends.

He is survived by his 2 children, Earla Jean (Glenn) Tedrow of Fairfield, IA and Jim (Pam) Cubbage of Batavia, IA; 4 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; and 1 sister, Violet Hyde of Tennessee.

Gene was preceded in death by his wife, parents, 5 brothers, Leonard, Richard, Harold, Charlie and Robert Cubbage; 3 sisters, Mary Cloke, Lucille Tedrow, Irene Adams; and special friend, Helen Billhymer.
