Earl Wayne Bisgard

Earl Wayne Bisgard age 86 of Fairfield passed away, Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Jefferson County Health Center.

Visitation for family and friends will be 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm, Friday, April 15, 2016 at Behner Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 am, Saturday, April 16, 2016 at First Lutheran Church, Fairfield, IA with Pastor Brian Gentz officiating. After the service he will be cremated. Burial of cremains will be Monday, April 18, 2016 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Graettinger, IA with military rites.

Earl was born November 18, 1929 to Einer and Lois (Warren) Bisgard in Walnut, IA. Lois passed away early in Earl’s life and Einer remarried Wilma Warren. Earl married Nila Mae Brawner January 21, 1951. They celebrated 52 years of marriage before she passed away November 13, 2003.

Earl joined the Marines and served during the Korean War. He moved to Fairfield in 1969. Earl was a farmer, worked 10 years for CB&Q railroad as a depot agent, high school custodian and he delivered flowers for Fairfield Flowers. For many years Earl and Nila enjoyed square dancing. He liked to play cards and checkers. When he moved to Sunnybrook he became very active in all of their activities. Most of all enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Earl is survived by 3 of his children, Dennis (Patti) Bisgard of Chariton, IA, Darrel (Brenda) Bisgard of Fairfield, IA and Diane (Jim) Bissig of Mason City, IA; one daughter-in-law Coleen Bisgard; 11 grandchildren, Kelly (Jason) Kent, Corey (Lori) Bisgard, Cole (Chandra) Bisgard, Renee (Mike) Telfer, Troy (Angie) Bisgard, Megan (Scott) Tatzel, Jessica Bisgard, Brandon Bisgard, Amy (Adam) Pedersen, Bradley (Tara Redfern) Bissig and Gary Bissig (Jake McLaughlan); 18 great grandchildren, one sister, Virginia Cowden of West Des Moines, IA; one brother, Norman Bisgard; two sister–in-laws; one brother-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Einer and Lois Bisgard; Einer’s second wife, Wilma Bisgard; his wife, Nila Bisgard; two sons, Gerald Dean and Donald Ray Bisgard; and one sister-in-law.
