Doris Irene Watson

Doris Irene Watson age 96, of Fairfield, passed away October 23, 2017, at the Sunnybrook Living Care Center.

Visitation for family & friends will be from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday October 29, 2017 at the Behner Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 am, Monday, October 30, 2017 at Behner Funeral Home with Rev. Beth Harbaugh officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

Doris was born May 26, 1921, to Fred “Louie” and Myrtle (Lee) Heckenberg on the family farm in Glasgow Community. She married George “Everett” Watson on March 9, 1941 in Kahoka, Missouri. They celebrated 70 years of marriage before he passed away February 25, 2012.

Doris was a teacher, wife, mother, ward clerk at Jefferson County Hospital and also helped on the family farm. Her hobbies and interest were sewing, playing bingo, gardening and walking. Most important was spending time with family & friends. She enjoyed picking up her grandkids and going to their school activities. Doris was a member of First United Methodist Church in Fairfield.

Left to share Doris’s memory is her daughter and spouse: Judy (Dan) Buttery of Fairfield; 2 grandchildren, Brian (Tara) Buttery, and Curtis (Ryannon) Buttery; 4 great-grandchildren, Hayden, Brighton, Lilly and Simon; many nieces and nephews, and sister-in-law, Crystal Westercamp.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Fred “Louie" and Myrtle Heckenberg; her husband, Everett Watson; one sister, Vera Swartout; and one brother, Harold Heckenberg.
