Doris Irene Bradfield, age 91, of Fairfield passed away March 3, 2018, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.
Visitation with family present will be 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2018, at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.
Celebration of life service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at the Prairie View United Methodist Church with Pastors Nathan Tabelisma and Danny Cary officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Jefferson County Fair or to the Prairie View United Methodist Church.
Doris was born on August 31, 1926, to Clarence and Gladys (Scott) McCormick. She married Paul Bradfield on October 8, 1949, at the Bethesda Church. He preceded her in death on November 9, 2002.
Doris was raised and spent her life in the Fairfield area. Doris graduated from Fairfield High School in 1943 and served as secretary of the 1943 class reunion committee. She belonged to Bethesda Methodist Church and presently a member of Prairie View United Methodist Church. She worked for Simmons and Simmons Law office for 2 years, and Fairfield Community School district for 32 years as a secretary and bus driver. Doris was active in her community, by serving on the board of Libertyville Travelers, being a Packwood Trojans 4-H leader and announcer at Jefferson County Ag. Show. Doris helped bring rural water to Jefferson County, serving as secretary-treasurer of Rural Water Association. She enjoyed being a farm wife and had a love for her Angus cattle. Doris was a member of American Angus Association and a member of the Southeast Iowa Angus Association. She was an avid bowler and loved her card clubs.
Doris is survived by 2 sons, Jerry and Linda Bradfield; Don Bradfield, all of Fairfield; 3 grandchildren, Bobbi Jo and Chad Miller; Beau and Sara Bradfield; Eric Bradfield; one great grandchild, Hayden Miller; 1 sister, LeNora Hickenbottom Johnson of Fairfield.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Connie and one sister, Alice Jean Hagans.
