Dora Lillus Vorhies, 89 of Fairfield, passed away October 14, 2012 at the Jefferson County Health Center.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at Behner Funeral Home with Pastor Frosty Van Voorst officiating. Burial of cremains will be at a later date.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:15 a.m.-10:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

Dora was born southeast of Packwood on December 7, 1922 to Raleigh C. and Lila Woolums Adams. She married George Vorhies on January 10, 1945 in Fairfield.
She lived in the Fairfield area since 1937, except for a few months in Overland Park, Kansas, while George was stationed at Olathe Naval Air Base.
Dora was a member of First Christian Church for over 50 years and a life member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary, where she served 3 terms as local president, 2 terms as district president and state president and on the national level, she served 2 years on the National Council of Administration and one term as National Big Ten Safety Chairman. Dora was a former member of The Order of Eastern Star, in which she served as Worthy Matron and Rainbow Girls Mother Advisor. She had also been a Girl Scout Leader, taking her troops from Brownies to Senior Scouts and served on the Fairfield Girl Scout Council until it joined the Shining Trail Council, was a Boy Scouts den mother and served 2 year terms as PTA President of the former Roosevelt School, where she was instrumental in getting its underpass constructed under Highway 34 when it was widened. She also enjoyed reading, crafting and needlework and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Dora is survived by her husband: George, 2 children: Leslie Gentry and Lane (Julie) Vorhies, both of Fairfield, 5 grandchildren: G.G. (Mike) Laux, James (April) Gentry, Hoyt (Sheila) Gentry, Skylar Vorhies and Cole Vorhies and 8 great-grandchildren: Dylan, Courtney, Dalton and Cheyanne Laux, Kaitlon and Jake Gentry and Peyton and Preston Gentry.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister.
