Donald "Don" LeRoy Quick

Donald “Don” Quick, age 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his home Thursday, September 1, 2016.

Funeral service will be 10:30 am, Tuesday September 6, 2016 at Behner Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Gloria Friedrich officiating. Burial will be at New Sweden Chapel Cemetery, Lockridge, IA.

Visitation for family and friends will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday September 5, 2016 at Behner Funeral Home & Crematory.

Don was born to Karl J. and Mildred V. (Pierson) Quick on July 4, 1935 in Fairfield, Iowa. He married Marilyn J. Myers on June 15, 1956 at the First Lutheran Church in Fairfield, IA.

Don has lived in Fairfield for the last 13 years, and 68 years in the Lockridge area. He spent 36 years as a farmer and spent 36 years as tool sharpener for Rockwell International in Fairfield. Don also operated the Broadway Shell gas station for 2 years. Don was an avid John Deere toy tractor collector, he enjoyed listening to old western music, watching The Lawrence Welk show and doing puzzles. Don took pride in keeping his farm and all of his equipment clean, and whatever he owned. Don enjoyed watching all sports especially football and girls’ softball. He especially enjoyed going to activities his kids and grandkids were involved in.

Don is survived by: wife Marilyn Quick of Fairfield, 2 sons and 2 daughters and families, Jeffrey (Brenda) Quick of Fairfield, Kevin Quick of Ottumwa, Rhonda Black of Fairfield, Kelly (Joe) Foreman of Fairfield, 10 grandchildren: Nicole (Jered) Hook, Eric (Amanda) Foreman, Billie Elliott (Seth Hoover) , Mitchel (Craig) Ash, Adam Foreman, Jason Black, Kyle Foreman, Patrick Quick, April (Dereck) Hormann, Alissa (Dale) Norton, Becky Oliver, Nathan (Michelle) Oliver, 14 great grandchildren: Gage and Kane Hook, Zaden, Xzavier and Oakley Elliott, Cashton Hoover, Theo Foreman, Toby and Nolan Oliver, Nick Sample, Dylan Hormann, Shelby Tolley, Bethany and Austin Porter.

Don was preceded by: his parents, grandparents, Sister Pauline Reeder, Brother Paul Quick.
