Deryl "Doug" Mack" McDowell

Deryl “Doug” “Mack” McDowell age 66, of Fairfield, passed away Friday, April 21, 2017 at his home.

Visitation for family and friends will be at Behner Funeral Home Tuesday, April 25, 2017 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm with prayer service at 7:00 pm.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am, Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at SS Joseph & Cabrini Catholic Church, East Pleasant Plain with Reverend Nick Adam officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, East Pleasant Plain, IA.

Doug was born February 13, 1951 to Deryl and Elsie (Thornburg) McDowell in Fairfield, IA. He married Amy Doyle January 4, 1980. This year they celebrated 37 years of marriage.

Doug graduated from Fairfield High School with the class of 1969. He started working with his Father at the age of 5 at Mack’s Body Shop and later owned & operated it (1956-1995). In 1995, Doug started driving a truck and the last 15 years was for Wal-Mart. He liked going fishing, riding and collecting both motorcycles and cars. What was most important to Doug was spending time with his family and friends.

Doug is survived by his wife, Amy of Fairfield, IA; 3 children, Jason (Amber) Craun and Jodi Bonnett both of Fairfield, IA and Justin (Jessica) Craun of Brighton, IA; 7 grandchildren, Douglas Bonnett, Delanie Vorhies, Cian Bonnett, Paige Craun, Skyler “Murphy” Craun, Sarah Craun and Vincent Craun; 3 siblings, Red (Nancy) McDowell of Ottumwa, IA, Patricia Coffin of Keosauqua, IA and Randy (Patty) McDowell of Burlington, IA.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Deryl and Elsie McDowell; and one sister Wilda Nelson.
