David "Max" Woods

April 19, 1933 — February 4, 2017

David “Max” Woods, age 83, of Fairfield passed away February 4, 2017 at Jefferson County Health Center.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Behner Funeral Home with Pastor Dianne Brokken and Pastor Calvin Helterbran officiating. Military rites will follow the service. Burial will be at Campground Cemetery near Memphis, MO.

Visitation for Family and friends will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Friday, February 10, 2017 at Behner Funeral Home.

Max was born April 19, 1933 in Downing, MO, to David Edward and Rosie (Stone) Woods. He married Norma June Hyde on January 15, 1956 in Missouri. They were married 58 years before she passed away November 19, 2014.

Max has lived in the Fairfield community since 1972, with his previous residence in Packwood. He managed Home Oil Short Stop in Fairfield for 33 years. Max enjoyed his horses, farming, loved all his animals, collected quarters, and was a member of Lockridge Rough Riders horse club. He attended the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Max served in the US Army during the Vietnam War.

Max is survived by his two children, Randy Max (Teresa) Woods of Batavia, IA and Janet Kay Woods of Keosauqua, IA; two grandchildren, Wendi Dawn (Jordan) Woods and Justin Dean Woods; two great grandchildren, Lilly Camizzi and Sofia Thompson; one brother, Elmer (Beverly) Woods of Yuma, AZ; and one sister, Irene Keller of Donnellson, IA.

Max was preceded by: his parents, David and Rosie Woods; and his wife, Norma.
