David Pech

David Pech, age 92, of Fairfield passed away Friday, March 24, 2017 at Sunnybrook Assisted Living.

Christian Wake Prayer Service will be 6:00 pm, Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at St. Mary Catholic Church with visitation for family and friends to follow 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm.

Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am, Thursday, March 30, 2017 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Reverend Nick Adam officiating. Burial with military rites will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to ALS Association, Alzheimer’s Association or Honor flight. Cards and memorials can be mailed to: Roxanne Hickenbottom, 1686 Old Hwy 34, Fairfield, Iowa 52556.

David was born July 18, 1924 to Fred and Mary Theresa (Bode) Pech. He married Arlene Rose Van Dyke November 9, 1947 in Muscatine, IA. They celebrated 68 years of marriage before Arlene passed away March 11, 2016.

David was a lifelong resident of Fairfield, graduating from Fairfield High School. He owned and operated Pech Welding Shop for over 50 years. David enjoyed woodworking, nature, gardening, traveling, camping, and doing outdoor activities with family. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, an American Legion member for 70 years and served on the color guard. He served in the US army during WW II in the Pacific theatre. What meant the most to him was spending time with family and friends.

David is survived by his 5 daughters, Jane Miller of Lawrenceville, GA, Sharlyn Pech of Oak Park, IL, Roxanne (Steve) Hickenbottom of Fairfield, IA, Jeanette (Tom) Pech-Timmerman of Columbia, MO and LeAnn Fredrickson of Fairfield, IA; 8 grandchildren, Collin Syfert, Brendan Syfert, Quinlan Syfert, Nicolette Fredrickson, Corey (Charissa) Hickenbottom, Jessica (Jesse) Knox, Joshua Hickenbottom, and Morgan Pech; 2 great grandchildren, Myrna and Cora Hickenbottom;

David was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Mary Pech; wife, Arlene Pech; one son, William Pech; 6 brothers, Robert, Ted, John, Louie, Bill and Warren; 4 sisters, Carrie, Mary, Dorothea, and Ruth; and one son-in-law, Andy Miller.
