David A. Burnett, 60, a resident of Stockport, passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. 

 There will be no services held at this time. Memorials may be made to Noah's Ark Animal Foundation. 

David was born June 10, 1966 in Keosauqua, the son of Alan Floyd and Sandra Lee (Hemn) Watson. He was raised by his grandmother, Neva Watson. David married Dawna Walker, February 20, 1993 in Forrest Park, Ohio.

David worked as a police officer in Ohio, and later became an antique restoration specialist, operating Mad Scotsman’s Antique Company.

David enjoyed fishing, collecting antiques, and was an avid reader. He was a crime junkie, Lord of the Rings fan, and animal lover.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Dawna; children, Neva Burnett and James Kent, both of Fairfield; grandchildren, Lyra Kent, Ellie Barber, Kyerin Barber, and Hayden Holderbaum; and siblings, Kendra Green and Nathan Kelley.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Floyd and Neva Watson.
