Dale Lawrence Krumboltz

Dale L. Krumboltz, age 96, of Fairfield, passed away Sunday, December 7, 2008 at Sunnybrook Assisted Living Center in Fairfield, IA.

Family visitation will be held December 19, 2008 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Funeral services are planned to be held at 2:00 PM, December 20, 2008 at the First Lutheran Church in Fairfield, with Rev. Marvin Robeck officiating. Burial with Military Rites will be conducted at Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

Dale Lawrence Krumboltz was born over 96 years ago in Fairfield on May 29, 1912 to John and Minnie (Kann) Krumboltz. He lived all his life in the Fairfield community and graduated from Fairfield High School in 1931. He was a member of the National Guard 133rd Infantry Band from 1931-1938.

Dale was united in marriage with Mildred Wildman in Fairfield on April 10, 1938. They were the parents of three children: Tom, Sue, and Jane.

Dale was a lifelong farmer and was among the first to do contour farming. He retired from farming in 1984. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Fairfield, and an eager volunteer in the community. He was a Farm Bureau member, a charter member of both the Soil Conservation Association and the Fairfield FFA. Dale was a member of the Trail Ride to the Iowa State Fair Centennial Celebration and a member of both the Fairfield municipal band and the 133rd Regiment Band for many years, as well as Oddfellows. Dale was also a member of the Square Dance Club and danced at the State Fair Centennial Celebration in 1954. He loved to fish and camp on the Skunk River and spending time with his children and their families. Dale enjoyed traveling and wintered in Texas.

His children and their families survive Dale: Tom Krumboltz and wife Karen of Fairfield, IA, Sue Swanson and husband Gary of Willow Park, TX, and Jane Carmichael and husband Bob of Shenandoah, IA. Dale was blessed with nine grandchildren: Mark, Dina, and Terry Swanson; Todd, Tim, and Troy Carmichael; and Brent, Sean and Krista Krumboltz, as well as 17 great-grandchildren.

Preceding Dale in death are his parents, his wife Mildred on June 24, 1998, and three siblings: Edna Graby, Clara McWhirter, Mabel Krumboltz, and Merlin Krumboltz.
