Cindy Shondel

Cindy Shondel age 65 of Fairfield passed away Thursday, February 2, 2017 at her home.

Visitation for family & friends will be 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Monday, February 6, 2017 at First Baptist Church. Following the visitation, she will be cremated.

Memorial service will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at First Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Wotherspoon officiating. Burial of cremains will be at a later date.

In-lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Women’s Circle, ASPCA or Deacons of Church.

Cindy was born November 22, 1951 in Ottumwa, IA to Raymond and Violetena (Hartley) Heckethorn. She married Mike Shondel on April 29, 1967. This year they would have celebrated 50 years of marriage.

Cindy has lived in Fairfield area for 40 years. She worked at Parkview Care Center as an aide. Cindy was a foster parent and a day care provider . She was a member of the First Baptist Church and belonged to the Women’s Circle, helped with Awanas and VBS. Cindy liked to put puzzles together, do scrap booking and crafts.

Cindy is survived by her husband, Mike Shondel of Fairfield, IA; 3 children, Mickey (Ted) Criswell of Fairfield, IA John (Annette) Shondel of Winfield, IA, and Penny Sisler of Mt. Pleasant, IA; 6 grandchildren; one great grandchild; 5 siblings, Lucy Elliott, Carol Lord, Laura Vogt, Lennice Hazelwood and Gene Heckethorn; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Violetena Heckethorn; two brothers, Ed and Sonny; and two sisters, Ann and Mary Louise.
