Cecil Abram Zehr, age 85 of Fairfield, passed away at 6:10 a.m. August 19, 2010 at the Jefferson County Health Center.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 21, 2010 at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Frances Baumert officiating. Military Rites will be held at the church, with Jeff Six as the bugler. The body will be cremated.
Masonic Rites will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday, August 20, 2010 at Behner Funeral Home. Visitation will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriner's Children's Hospital or American Cancer Society Hope Lodge in Iowa City and sent to Jean Zehr 1919 Spruce Ave. Fairfield, Iowa 52556.
Cecil was born January 22, 1925 in Frytown, Iowa to Abraham K. and Lucy Mae Eash Zehr. He married Jean Payton on January 20, 1955 in Illinois.
He served with the U.S. Army Air Force and was a WW II veteran. Cecil was also an electrician at Zehr Electric Inc. for 50 years.
He was affiliated with First United Methodist Church, Fairfield Clinton Masonic Lodge AF & AM #15, Fairfield Shrine Club-former member of Wheel Horse Patrol, Davenport Consistory, Fairfield Elks Lodge #1192 and Fairfield Eagles Lodge #1927.
Cecil is survived by his wife, 3 children: Deborah J. (Patrick) Danaher of Kingwood, Texas, Randy Zehr of Fairfield and Dana J. (Todd) Nash of Coralville, 2 siblings: Kathryn Pratt of Ottumwa and Eugene Zehr of Washington and 3 grandsons: Ryan Danaher, Wade Nash and Eric Nash.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers: Austin, Lawrence, Wayne and Stanley.
