Betty Jane Cubbage

Betty Jane Black Cubbage age 92 of Fairfield, passed away Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, Iowa.

Visitation for family and friends will be 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Monday, September 26, 2016 at Behner Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am, Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Behner Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Albert officiating. Burial will be in Fell Cemetery south of Libertyville, IA.

Betty was born July 28, 1924 to William J. and Minnie (Stivers) Black three miles south west of West Grove, IA. She married James “Robert” Cubbage on February 27, 1946 at the Bloomfield Parsonage. They celebrated 65 years of marriage before he passed away June 1, 2011.

Betty retired from Walmart in 1996 after 10 years of service. Before that, she and her husband retired from farming. Betty loved her family very much and enjoyed every minute she would spend with them. She loved her little dog Spunky also. She was one of the best cooks around and enjoyed feeding all her family. Betty will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Betty is survived by her children, Betty Janette Campbell of Batavia, Cora Ruth (Russell) Rippey of Libertyville, Roberta Ann (Randy) Fleig of Fairfield and Harold Robert (Kathy) Cubbage of Libertyville; 6 grandchildren, Robert Campbell, Michelle Campbell, Robyn Rippey, Renea Rippey, Jason Cubbage and Amy Scotton; 13 great-grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; three sisters, Cynthnia (Ivan) Wray of Moravia, IA, Ruth Davis of Ottumwa, IA and Ethel Houser of Cedar Rapids, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Cubbage; parents, William and Minnie Black; and one grandson, Jim Mrogenski; and three sisters, Grace Jackson, Mary Ellen Black and Mabel Ellison.
