Bessie Thelma Lawson

Bessie Thelma Lawson age 90 of Fairfield, passed away August 1, 2016 at her home.

Visitation for family and friends will be 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm, Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Behner Funeral Home.

Graveside memorial service will be 10:00 am, Friday, August 12, 2016 at Fell Cemetery, Libertyville, IA with Pastor John Kermott officiating.

Bessie was born July 15, 1926 to Walter and Laura (Mitchell) Hall in Putman County, Missouri. She married Edwin C. Lawson December 20, 1947. They celebrated 52 years of marriage before he passed away May 11, 2000.

Bessie lived in Fairfield all her life and was a homemaker. She spent many hours working in the garden and then canning the produce that came from her garden. Bessie enjoyed sewing and worked many hours volunteering at the Hospital Auxiliary.

She is survived by one son, David (Sharon) Lawson of Wapello, IA; one daughter, Carol Sutton of Fairfield, IA; grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Bessie was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin; parents; one daughter, Ann; one son, Carl; 3 sisters, Thelma, Minerva and Anne; and 3 brothers, Eldon, Woodrow and Munroe.
